Let's be honest — you sang it as soon as you read the title, before reading another word, and you're welcome for getting it stuck in your head. What is life without a little levity?

This shark represents the past self and everything that has been experienced. Think of it as the shadow cast by the present — or larger — shark. Every decision, every experience, and every event has helped shape who we are today. Like a shadow, however, it cannot be touched, changed, or erased. It can only be observed, and only clearly when we choose to shine light upon it.

One important thing about shadows is that they may follow us, but they do not define us. They do not give us shape, meaning, purpose, or worth. Those things belong to us as we are today — not to the shadows behind us.
